"This illustration was created
for a cover story on how the California Energy Crisis of 2001 was effecting
the telecommunications industry. I started with a map of the US and some
digital photos I took of an electrical outlet and plug. These were manipulated
and merged with drawing done in Photoshop to create an image showing the
state of California as unplugged from the rest of the US. This image helped
the magazine win a Maggie Award for the best overall issue of a trade
